چکیده
Variations in anatomy of the tendons and ligaments are not uncommon cause a diagnostic dilemma. We describe novel ligament encountered ankle extending from posterior inferior tibiofibular to calcaneum. Awareness normal variant is essential during evaluation study.

The Role of the Accessory Malleolar Ossicles and Malleolar Avulsion Fractures in Lateral Ankle Ligament Reconstruction.
While it is well known that ankle sprains are one of the most common injuries in the United States, predictive factors regarding failure of conservative treatment are not well known. There are many biomechanical and epidemiological factors that play a role in recurrence and failure of conservative treatment, but most cases are able to be treated with immobilization and/or rest, ice, elevation, ...
متن کاملMedial ankle pain after lateral ligament rupture.
After a severe ankle sprain the incidence of residual complaints, particularly on the medial side of the joint, is high. We studied a consecutive series of 30 patients who had operative repair of acute ruptures of lateral ligaments. During operation, arthroscopy revealed a fresh injury to the articular cartilage in 20 ankles, in 19 at the tip and/or anterior distal part of the medial malleolus ...

PURPOSE To report the outcome of a technique combining direct anatomic reconstruction of the anterior talofibular ligament (ATFL) with augmented reconstruction using the peroneus brevis tendon fixed by a bio-absorbable interference screw. METHODS 13 men and 2 women aged 17 to 36 (mean, 24) years with recurrent inversion injuries of the right (n=5) and left (n=10) ankles underwent lateral ankl...
متن کاملTreatment of ruptures of the lateral ligament of the ankle.
In this study three forms of treatment for ruptures of the lateral ligament of the ankle have been compared with reference to their effect upon the final mechanical stability of the ankle, the duration of morbidity immediately after injury, and the incidence of complaints one year after injury. The three forms of treatment used were mobilisation, immobilisation for six weeks, and suture of the ...
متن کاملInjuries to the lateral ligament of the ankle.
The tendency for the foot to “ give way “ (a complaint here referred to as functional instability) after an ankle sprain has been attributed to a number of pathological processes, among which the most widely accepted are varus instability of the talus in the ankle mortise (Nilsonne 1932, Elmslie 1934, Watson-Jones 1955, Dziob 1956, Wiles 1959, Perkins 1961) and adhesion formation at the subtala...
